Executive Assistant and Communications Manager

 

Location: New York, NY
Salary: Commensurate with experience; comprehensive benefits package

Like any organization APJ is unique. We are a small, close-knit team and each of us wears many hats. Because of this structure the hybrid role of Executive Assistant and Communications Manager is atypical, but very effective for the way we work. We are a group of creative-minded individuals and artists that takes a very direct approach to our work in Haiti. We pride ourselves on having a very pointed impact and close collaboration with our partners. As Executive Assistant and Communications Manager, you’ll be an integral member of the APJ team responsible for managing all administrative and institutional communications both directly with individuals and externally via social media and press. The ideal candidate must be highly self motivated with impeccable organizational skills, a meticulous memory, precise attention to detail and the ability to manage several tasks and projects simultaneously with grace. Simultaneously you should have a strong voice and storytelling should be a major interest. If the job can be reduced to one simple description it is to effectively communicate the work and mission on behalf of APJ to the world at large to ensure our continued success.

The role has two major sides: the first being in support of our CEO and at times other team members. In the role you will work very closely with our CEO, including managing his outreach and correspondence, scheduling, logistics, assistance in executing and managing special projects, office management, and other administrative tasks. The second side of the role is focused on the external communications of APJ: managing all social media platforms, websites, and external communications on behalf of APJ and overseeing those of our programs in Haiti. The ideal candidate is a committed professional who works with complete discretion, grace, class, and humor, has a high tolerance for a fast-paced work environment, and is ready to solve problems the moment they arise.

The responsibilities of the Executive Assistant and Communications Manager include, but are not limited to:

-Daily scheduling and travel management for our CEO and other team members
-Assisting our CEO with routine administrative tasks (expenses reports, etc…)
-Managing email correspondence for the CEO
-Overseeing mass internal and external communications campaigns
-Assisting in fundraising event production
-Drafting press releases and managing communications for APJ events, activities and campaigns
-Running the organization’s social media accounts and websites
-Maintaining and assisting in management of the office as needed

The ideal candidate would meet the following requirements:

-Bachelor’s Degree
-Minimum 3 – 4 years prior experience in a role with similar requirements
-Demonstrated problem-solving experience with an optimistic, proactive spirit
-Experience in content creation and/or storytelling
-Meticulous attention to detail and superior organizational skills
-Ability to prioritize and manage multiple complex and fast-changing projects
-Well-versed in routine administrative tasks
-Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Word, Excel, Google Apps, etc…
-Superior knowledge of major social media platforms and best practices
-Friendly and professional written communication and phone demeanor
-Fluency in French (helpful but not necessary)
-Passion for the mission of Artists for Peace and Justice

Social Media Intern

 

Location: New York, NY
Compensation: School credit, Stipend
Dates: Immediate – December 2016

APJ seeks a Social Media Intern to generate dynamic content to inspire and activate APJ supporters online and to help manage the organization’s online presence. The ideal candidate will be outgoing, digitally savvy, and passionate about social media’s potential to enact change. A self-starter, do-gooder, and expert communicator, this internship will be an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on digital marketing, content strategy, and social analytics experience.

Responsibilities:

-Monitor and maintain APJ’s social network accounts (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, WordPress, Vimeo and Youtube)
-Produce content for the APJ blog, website, and affiliate organizations
-Research latest social media strategies and trends
-Organize, analyze and offer new ideas for APJ fundraising campaigns
-Develop proposals for social media campaigns
-Monitor analytics for all social media accounts and websites

Requirements:

-Passionate about social good and the goals of Artists for Peace and Justice
-Current college student or recent graduate
-Previous experience managing professional social media accounts (preferred)
-Some knowledge of social media marketing strategies
-Ability to work seamlessly across social media platforms
-Extremely organized and detail oriented, with impeccable follow through
-Demonstrated ability to be an expert checker of facts and quality
-Strong written and oral communication skills
