Marketing and Partnerships Director

Location: New York, NY
Compensation: Commensurate with experience
Start Date: Immediate

We are seeking a Marketing and Partnerships Director to take our marketing strategy and revenue generation to the next level. We have an extremely strong brand, core group of supporters, donors, and investors. We are seeking a seasoned professional who is a true ace communicator to help us better tell our story with the ultimate goal of increasing engagement and annual income. In this role you will work closely with our CEO and Board to develop, execute, and manage all internal and external communications of the organization, as well as leverage existing partnerships and create new ones to further the aims of the organization.

The ideal candidate is a hybrid personality who is capable of both strategic thinking and meticulous planning, in addition to being a highly skilled networker who isn’t afraid to roll up his or her sleeves to get work done. The ideal candidate is also someone who believes strongly in the mission, growth, and future of APJ and who is willing to live and breathe the brand in all their interactions in and out of the office, with the goal of forging new partnerships and connections on behalf of the organization. Among the most important qualities he or she must demonstrate are superior organizational skills, excellent taste, confidence to talk candidly about major gifts and partnerships, deep internal motivation, a mentality for problem solving, the ability to work gracefully under pressure, and a high tolerance for stress. He or she must also thrive off social interaction and have resources to call upon in order to get things done effectively and efficiently. The ideal candidate should be comfortable working independently to produce concepts and marketing materials as needed, and ideally have a network of freelancers to call upon for more complicated projects such as production of assets like videos and event materials.

The responsibilities of the Marketing and Partnerships Director will include:
-Working with the CEO and Board to develop the vision and growth opportunities of the organization
-Leveraging existing corporate and strategic partnerships (especially from a press and amplification perspective) to ensure partners are happy and see ROI
-Developing new partnerships targeting different brands, corporations, and foundations
-Creatively brainstorming on how to maximize income through existing assets and new ones
-Developing and implementing all internal and external communications strategy
-Designing and executing personalized and mass mailing campaigns
-Managing the APJ website and overseeing development of voice and content
-Collaborating with the CEO and Events Manager to create event themes
-Developing, writing, and overseeing production of all marketing, sponsorship, and partnership materials
-Working with PR teams on press releases and other PR materials
-Developing social media strategy and overseeing the daily operation of APJ’s social media accounts
-Maintaining the APJ visual archive and sourcing a constant stream of new content from our programs

All candidates should have:
-8+ years experience in a role with similar requirements or substantial past experience in a communications or marketing position
-Meticulous attention to detail and superior organizational skills with the capability of keeping long-term strategic vision top of mind
-Excellent taste and a clear understanding of representing the APJ brand
-Extensive background in cultivating relationships with sponsors and existing connections to a range of companies and influencers
-High tolerance for the unique kind of stress associated with the fundraising goals of a high efficiency non-profit organization
-The ability to prioritize and manage many complex and fast-moving projects
-Superior written and verbal communication skills
-A candid, friendly, and positive demeanor
-Contacts within creative industries to call upon to assist in the production of videos and other materials
-Some graphic design experience and comfort with the Adobe Creative Suite
-Comfort working with the Mac OS, Google Apps, and Microsoft Office Suite.
-Familiarity with MailChimp and Salesforce strongly preferred

Operations Intern

Location: New York, NY
Compensation: School credit, Stipend
Start Date: September 2017

We are seeking an Operations Intern to assist with a range of day-to-day office duties and other projects in our New York office. The intern will lend support to all members of the APJ team and report directly to the Operations Manager. The ideal candidate will be a highly organized and responsible individual with a passion for APJ’s work looking to gain experience in the field through the handling of various tasks associated with the operations of a small nonprofit organization.

Responsibilities:
-Monitor office phones, deliveries, and email
-Assist with social media outreach and monitoring
-Conduct ongoing research projects
-Compile data and maintain various organizational databases
-Work with APJ staff in a support capacity to address other needs and projects as they arise

Requirements:
-Passionate about international development and the goals of Artists for Peace and Justice
-Current college student or recent graduate (must already be located in the NYC metro area)
-Extremely organized with meticulous attention to detail and follow through
-Strong written and oral communication skills
-Proficient in Microsoft Office with high level of general computer competency
-Familiarity with major social media platforms

Graphic Design Intern

Location: New York, NY
Compensation: School credit, Stipend
Start Date: September 2017

We are seeking a passionate Graphic Design Intern to assist in creating beautiful and informative print and digital design projects such as event materials, infographics, brochures, annual reports, presentations, and website development. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in graphic design, enthusiasm for the work of APJ, and substantial working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite. This internship will provide experience in professional graphic design application, and especially as it pertains to the nonprofit sector. This position is a great opportunity for graphic design and marketing students to apply their skills, or for those who have some knowledge of graphic design and are looking to explore it in a professional setting.

Responsibilities:
-Design printed and digital collateral for APJ marketing materials
-Assist in maintaining and organizing the APJ media archive
-Contribute creative input for new campaigns and projects
-Perform routine updates to various materials and files as needed

Requirements:
-Passionate about design and the goals of APJ
-Current college student or recent graduate (Graphic Design students preferred but not required, you must already be located in the NYC metro area)
-Extremely organized and detail oriented, with impeccable follow through
-Team player who can multitask effectively
-Demonstrated proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite
-Proven ability to follow direction, but also willingness to provide original input and ideas
-Web programming experience a plus but not necessary
